About Lisa’s passion for performing arts

From a young age, performing on stage came naturally to Lisa. She began playing the piano at 7 and within a short time was studying under the tutelage of Dr. Jacqueline Salas. Around the same time, Lisa was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, a chronic medical condition of the intestine. While undergoing treatments and hospitalizations throughout her young years, she found comfort in her music.

Participating in semi-annual studio recitals, city-wide honors recitals, and evaluations in the Certificate of Merit Program, receiving all honors gave Lisa a tremendous feeling of achievement in her musical life. This later transferred to her drive to overcome the challenges of living with an incurable illness. Being featured as an orchestral soloist with the California State University, Northridge (CSUN) orchestra and her other performances developed Lisa’s public stage presence.

Continuing a musical direction, Lisa immersed herself in the arts at Beverly Hills High School, where she was actively involved in the theater department and sang with the renowned Madrigal Singers serving as the President of the group her senior year. Spending much of her years on and off stage in school musicals and theatrical productions, culminating in her Senior Solo Piano Recital and being selected as Salutatorian of her graduating class.

Going on to study music and journalism at the University of Southern California (USC) her medical condition was finally under control. She furthered her music education at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) before returning to California to complete a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano Performance at California State University Northridge (CSUN).

Over the years, Lisa has maintained an independent piano teaching studio, has created and implemented Fine Arts Programing at under-served schools, has worked with thousands of children as a general classroom music teacher, and has taught group piano classes at the college level. Throughout the years having a medical illness was a challenge for Lisa which shaped her ability to connect emotions in her music. She offers others a connection to themselves through music.
